United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (UNDESD) has just started from this year. The Japan Council on the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD-J) has been promoting education for sustainable development (ESD) and UNDESD, and networking the individuals and organizations in Japan who are committing themselves in the pursuits to achieve a sustainable society. For the Symposium, we would like to share ESD movements and activities in Asian neighboring counties, and develop the Asian Network for the promotion of ESD.

For the Symposium, we would like to share ESD movements and activities in Asian neighboring counties, and develop the Asian Network for the promotion of ESD. The Symposium is also for the implementation of Ahmedabad Declaration coordinated by ESD-J at International Conference of Education for Sustainable Future (ESF), January 2005, which calls for building the Hubs to Hubs ESD network among Asian countries.
